We add all tasks that we have to or wish to do to our favorite to do list app. After some time, there are too many of them, and many of them are not even written correctly, or even if they are, they don’t get any of our time.

2-Minutes Rule

The stuppidest thing I did that incredibly worked out outstandingly well was to force myself to spend 2 minutes on each task, sorted from top to bottom in priority (if any), no skipping at all, every day.

The whole point is that in those 2 minutes you have to do whatever it takes to get rid of that task, be it working on it for a bit, breaking it down into easier pieces, deprioritizing it, or even deleting it.

Since there is no skipping, the first task in priority will always receive your attention. And by forcing yourself to work on it, procastination is minimized, you simply work on it (or break it down into easier tasks).

Even when 2 minutes is a ridicule amount of time to get something done, the idea is to shift your mindset from “oh yeah, I have to do this” to “hey, I’m doing this”. Often you will spend more time on it.

A huge percentage of productivity advice out there is fluff to deceive you into feeling that you are being productive, but this rule has actually helped me quite a lot.

TLDR

Just go over the list of tasks that you need to do, sorted by priority, and force yourself to spend two minutes on each trying to get rid of it (by completing it, breaking it down, or deleting it).
